Amanda Johnson-Cruz is originally from the Midwest, where she grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Most notably, home of the Green Bay Packers. Amanda attended the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science and started her journey to law school in California. During undergraduate studies, Amanda was actively involved in extracurricular activities and committees, such as Pi Sigma Alpha (National Political Science Honor Society) and volunteer work for the Wisconsin Women’s Network, located in Madison, Wisconsin.
While attending a private law school in Santa Ana, California, namely, Trinity Law School, she gained professional experience working at law firms part-time while studying and attending classes. Her decision to emphasize in personal injuries was related to her own experience with an at-fault driver during her law
school career.
During law school, she was elected to several positions of Student Bar Associations and committees, including: Public Relations Director of the Student Bar Association, Fundraising Director for the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, and Junior Representative of the Student Bar Association.
Amanda was also part of the efforts to provide legal aid to the homeless, through providing legal aid at the Orange County
Rescue Mission’s mobile legal clinic. In line with Amanda’s passion to help others, she traveled abroad for the summer to attend an International Human Rights program in France. Lastly, Amanda did internships throughout her law school studies to prepare herself for being an attorney.
After law school, and passing the bar examination, Amanda worked for several boutique personal injury firms throughout Century City and Los Angeles. On the side, as part of her passion for helping others, she worked for a mentor in estate planning for an office specializing in special needs trusts. While gaining valuable experience from the law firms which she was fortunate to work with, she knew that it was a matter of time until she started her own practice.
Amanda was inspired by previous law firms that maintain small practices and started her own law firm as a solo practitioner in 2017. Amanda was always confident that once ready, the law practice would grow into a family practice. The decision to partner with her husband was proclaimed to be an “easy one” and she knew that Mr. Cruz was a great Workers’ Compensation Attorney.
Together, Amanda and Geoff’s interest in helping others, and their ability to help others made it a no brainer to become Cruz and Cruz, A Professional Law Corporation. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and close friends.
